Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Loop Social Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Loop Social”, “we”, “us”), covering the gnibs browser extension and the website gnibs.com (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use gnibs.

The short version

gnibs lets you annotate web pages and see public annotations others leave.
You own what you write. You’re responsible for it, and for keeping it lawful and civil.
Anything you mark public is visible to other gnibs users on that page — post accordingly.
We can remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
The Service is provided as-is; we annotate pages we don’t own or control.

Who can use gnibs

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use gnibs. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you confirm you’re authorized to accept these terms for it.

Your account

Some features require a gnibs account. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Use accurate information and don’t impersonate others. You can stop using gnibs at any time; signing out ends the extension’s ability to post as you, and removing the extension stops it entirely.

Your content

“Your content” is what you create in gnibs — highlights, notes, replies, reactions, and the page text you choose to quote as an anchor. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the Service — including showing your public content to other gnibs users viewing the same page. This license ends when you delete the content, except for reasonable backup copies and anything others have already saved or exported.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it. Don’t post anything you don’t have the rights to, and remember that visibility you choose (public, private, or directed to specific people) determines who can see it. Treat anything you post as public unless you set it otherwise.

Acceptable use

When using gnibs, don’t:

post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, or invades others’ privacy;
infringe anyone’s intellectual-property or other rights;
spam, post malware or deceptive links, or use gnibs to manipulate or mislead;
harvest or scrape data, or try to access content or accounts you’re not permitted to;
probe, disrupt, or circumvent the Service’s security, rate limits, or visibility rules; or
misuse the Service to attack, defraud, or harm the websites you annotate or their users.

Moderation

gnibs is a shared space. We may review, remove, or restrict content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that we reasonably believe violate these terms or harm the Service or other people. Some moderation is automated — for example, a public annotation that is sufficiently downvoted by the community is automatically demoted so it is no longer shown publicly. We aren’t obligated to monitor content, and we’re not responsible for content others post.

Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual-property rights and expect the same of you. If you believe content on gnibs infringes your copyright, our Copyright Policy explains how to send a takedown notice to our designated agent. We respond to valid notices and, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

Pages you annotate

gnibs displays a layer over third-party web pages that we don’t own, operate, or endorse. Annotations are the views of the people who wrote them, not ours. Your use of any underlying website remains subject to that site’s own terms. We don’t modify the underlying pages or their content; gnibs simply overlays annotations for people who choose to view them.

Our intellectual property

The gnibs software, design, and name belong to Loop Social Inc. and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms don’t grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding. You may use the Service only as these terms allow.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that annotations will always re-anchor correctly as pages change.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Loop Social and its operators won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using gnibs at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses for already-shared content, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive.

Changes

We may update these terms; we’ll change the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, give notice in-product or by email where appropriate. Continuing to use gnibs after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
